So I found this poster on ebay awhile back:

I wasn't sure how I could diplay it with out ruining it. It a large 70 to 80 year old piece if paper that was meant to be hung for a short time and disposed of after. I wanted to get it framed but didn't want to pony up the cash was quoted $135.

It sat in the tube it was delivered in for a couple months. I finally bit the bullet & got it profesionally framed. Now I am very happy I spent the cash to do it. I think i turned out fantastic & couldn't be happier.

Poster is a big one at 31 x 42. Now I just need to convince the wife to let me display it in the house and not the garage. She said well discuss it which is better than the NO!!! I usually get. smile

Money well spent in my opinion. Will never get it back but don't care it's for me.

Nice looking display now Tom.
I do have a question. Did you get the poster archivally mounted to a backing to get it that flat again? It looks very nice and figure that's about the only way they could get it to frame that nice. Just curious as posters that have been rolled for many years are usually a bear to get somewhat flat again!

Poster was properly mounted to get flat. Don't really know how it's done be he said everything is reversible causing no damage to the poster. There are a couple wrinkles in the poster still but I'm very pleased the way it turned out.

By doing this I got to met a nice older gentleman locally who did the mounting and framing and I will probably be doing more business there now. Gotta support the local guys when you can.

Best way I think to maybe get it in the house is to try to maybe get it in a utility room first--like a laundry room, if humidity is not a problem. IMHO It would fit a laundry room theme... smile

Just something to think about. It turned out very nice indeed, but remember it is just paper and a good archival mounting like you've done is the best way to go. The paper is kept away from the glass so moisture doesn't effect it and all materials are acid free which is extremely important. The one word of caution I have is light. UV rays can fade color and break down the paper. If the glass that was used is standard picture glass, it does not protect against this. They do have glass for framing that does do this but that comes at a higher cost. If it's standard glass, hang it where it will receive no direct sun light. Even indirect bright rooms will have a long term effect. The colors seem to be very bright so take all precautions you can. High humidity or extreme swings in temp. situations are not recommended. It's like a fine wine.....it needs to be treated like wise.
