Found this Dixie banner in a old farm barn. Took a while to get it,the sign reminded the farmer of his old dog named Dixie. Has any one seen this before?

I thought my shop was cool with the few pumps and a 70 challenger I have in mine, but I think I just found my dream garage, lol

Neat piece....I wouldn't think that being a regional brand that there were ever a great number made. Hillsdale County had around 20 Dixie stations in 1927. I would say it's quite a rare piece. You may want to investigate conservation of the banner. The fabric is over 70 years old, probably closer to 80 years old. With that heavy wood pulling on it at some point the piece will self-destruct, even if it is a heavier canvas material. I have several really nice banners that I don't hang due to the fact you can already see the stretching of the material. I know they can be framed, but one like this with the wood would be a challenge.
The only cleaning I do to banners is vacuum them with a sock or some scrap material over the suction opening so you don't suck the banner and risk damage. Other than that I'd leave it alone!
Great find of a scarce piece for sure! Thanks for letting us see it,
Darin
