Hello all!!
I am restoring my gilbarco pump. I am thinking of doing one side ethyl and the other regular. I would like some opinions before I do it. I think it would look AWESOME! I will show pics tomorrow of the doors I got. I will gut the pump on Christmas with my uncle. I will keep posting pics of my progress.
Thanks Noah
Looking for any cans! PM me what ya got!

I didn't get to gut it. He forgot his tools... Oh well, he said for me to buy some tools if I keep on restoring pumps. I have to gut it before I can do anything on it . Thanks Noah

Oh well, he said for me to buy some tools if I keep on restoring pumps. He's right you know. Auctions, flea markets and garage sales, my man. Buy older American made tools for a fraction of the price of new. To me,it sucks to have to depend on someone else to build or fix just about anything. Not implying I know it all- I just try to figure stuff out before I call for help. I try to at least give it a shot, anyways.

Tuff Love Lesson Maybe.
Socket set and saws-all should do it. Neighbor might loan you tools. All though I have a policy about that. LOL

Those are the best places to buy hand tools! I only have a few sets of brand new tools, 85% of them were bought at auctions or flea markets!
Just like pumps, you can never have too many tools!!

for the record, if you are leaving this outside like I thought you said you were, I WOULD NOT gut it. the weight will keep it from blowing over and help prevent theft.

I am leaving it inside a barn, so I will gut it. I am sorry I have not been posting more about this. I just took out the computer today if anyone needs some parts, pm me and you can have what ever is left. I don't know what guts to take out? Can you guys help me please. I don't know if I should take out all the electrical stuff to light it up. Do I take it all out? I am going to get a computer and I will need help to do the electrical for sure! If someone would come over to help, that would be great!!!!! I will be going to all the midland antique shows, and maybe to a flee market or 2 and will look for tools. Thanks Noah

...Noah - you should get a copy of Benjamin/Henderson's Guide to Gas Pump Restoration...while this particular model pump isn't covered, they do have play-by-play photos of other popular pumps during the teardown and restoration process...
...also, you could contact Jack Sim, and buy a parts list for that model pump, I feel sure he'd have one...that would help you identify what you're dissecting...
...most importantly: get a box of Ziploc bags and a Sharpie...everytime you take something apart, put the nuts/bolts in the bag and label it, so you'll know where they go when you go to put it all back together...
...when someone is talking about 'gutting' a pump, they are referring to taking out everything between the computer mount and the base: the pump motor, the air separator, etc...the HEAVY STUFF that has nothing to do with the sheet metal body of the pump or the frame...
...by the way, you can scrap it all, but make sure you scrap the motor separately, it's got a lot of copper in it...
...surely someone on Oldgas who restores pumps regularly has a before/after pic of a gutted pump they can post...

Thanks gulfiend!! I will take it all to the scrap yard for sure, but I will see if anyone needs the parts from the computer. As he said, can someone post a pic of a step by step pic for gutting pumps please. That would be a major help! I already gut my little pump and some of it is copper and I know that copper is selling for allot! I will post a pic of my progress later or tomorrow.
Thanks Noah

Thanks, I will do that. What about the pipe that goes from the motors to the top. Do I take that out? I will post pics tomorrow.
