Found this old pump in my travels, at an old farm house. I tried to buy it, but they are still using it! The lady told me they had another one by the barn that had a globe on it, but they sold that one a while ago.

Don't give up on it, exchange numbers with them and keep in touch. If it eventually comes up for sale you want to be the first person they call.

Guys, notice the Lead sign is on the front of the pump, this was required by many states and localities.

Thanks for the info Jack. I noticed some pumps had lead sign on front but I never knew why.

Not trying to start rumors, but I think I read somewhere that early on the Lead signs were required to be on the front and later were allowed to be put on the side of the pump?

Keep asking around. If you can find an older farmer that does not have a computer, or does not watch American Pickers you might get a fair price on one. Otherwise he will say not for sale or I want 1000.00 for it~! Good luck!!! I bought my collection before all the above.

The Tok 39 that I am restoring was used as a kerosene pump until the mid-90s at a local station. Then one day he got new gas pumps and one of the old ones was used to replace the Tok 39, but the Tok was just sitting on the side of his station. My father, also being a local station owner, knew him and asked what he was doing with it. He told my father that if he wanted it, take it. So he did.

It sat at my father’s house until last year. He always had plans to restore it, but all his time and money were spent on my brother and me. So last year he told me that he was going to get rid of it, and I told him that I wanted it. He was happy that I showed interest in it, so he gave it to me. Little does he know that I thought I would show my appreciation for all that he has done for me by restoring it and giving it back to him for his birthday.

I know I got a little side tracked with the second part of my story, but just wanted to share it with you guys.

Thanks-
John

great picture, i see this alot around where i'm at. I found a couple of great complete old shamrock pumps and when i asked about them they were still in use by the farmer for his tractors, when i got up on them for a look they had plumbed a spin on filter on the one used for diesel (it still had all the ethel glass on it ) still cool to see them.

John, I'm sure your dad will be surprised & happy. I also restored a Tokheim 39 for my dad, I did it in a Studebaker theme, as he is a Studebaker nut. I gave it to him for Christmas, you shoulda seen the look on his face!
