Quick question. I have a fry 17 with the wayne 10 gallon adapter on it and i was wondering if fry made a tall ten. I have a tall ten cylinder and was wondering if it would fit or look stupid and again if they ever made one .

The Fry 87 is a tall ten but a completely different pump than your 17.

Makes more sense to me that After WAYNE bought out FRY, it would have been easier/cheaper to use the T.T. cylinder than to convert them to WAYNE or RUSH base plates, cyl. lids & Bonnets.

I have been asking older long time collectors for YEARS this same question & NO ONE YET has ever given a satisfactory answer.

I am going to measure my pump and if it is the same size as my cylinder then i may try it out. If it works i will be needing a 17 top. Thanks for the info guys.

I had to jump in here because the FRY 10 gallons are hands down my favorite pumps. Technically speaking if we are referring to FRY 10 Gallon pumps should it be the 117 model opposed to 17? I thought that the 17 was the 5 gallon. However it also appears that when you take away the cylinder the 17 and 117 are essentially the same pump (correct or not?). By the way, I have a FRY 117 with the regular 10 gallon cylinder but a lady here in town has one identical except that it has a tall 10 cylinder on it. I assume it is one of the Wayne cylinders referred to earlier. Great discussion guys. Thanks!

Here is a picture of my friends FRY 10 gallon pump. Does this look like the Wayne tall 10 cylinder that yall were referring to?

cosdencop,
Your thread has been HIGHJACKED!
Your asking about a MAE WEST Tall Ten, not an 87!

Dick you are right i was just wanting to know if they ever made a Mae-West with a tall ten cylinder. My cylinder measures 9 3/4 id x 38 and i also have the original gallon markers with it but dont know what pump it actually fit. It also has the rings on both ends.

Your cylinder is for a Fry 87. Don't know if they ever put it on a 17, but go ahead, you have my permission, and I'd like pictures when you're done.

What does the plate on the body say? I have a Fry 17 and the plate is listed as a Fry 17R with the 10-gallon cylinder on it. Just for info! Hugh
