Item: 150898159994

Anyone seen anything like this before? Pretty unusual, but dunno if it's $800+ unusual.

Not unusual, center price attachments are hard to find.

I wish They would repo this one AND date it so that I could hang it outside. I couldn't have a $800-$1200 sign walking off. LOL

A friend "lost" two porcelain signs recently. Thieves went THROUGH a chain link fence that was topped with barbed wire, crossed 30 yards of open ground and took them off of a barn 15 feet off of the ground.

That's the thing Dave, with the way things are in the US anymore, I wouldn't have anything of value hanging outside. With the "shows" bringing extra attention to anything worth a buck, theft of this stuff is growing and growing. Anyone with half a brain that watches these shows know signs and pumps have value, in any condition now since some like "rusty patina", lol. I feel bad for the people that are getting items stolen, but anymore it's an invitation for thieves having this stuff displayed on buildings, as sad as it is.

Hello Darin,
I am currently building a 1920's country store with Gulf gas behind my house and want it to be visible, but "secure". It is just neat to see the stuff "in the wild" as you did 50 years ago. Perhaps I am just living in a dream world rather than living the dream. I remember those old stores with the old men sitting out front "whittling" and playing checkers...a simpler time.
Wish me luck...
Dave

Ive got about $6000 dollars worth of signs leaning against trees in my yard. And i live in a subdivision 40 miles outside of atlanta. My house was broken into and the punks stole 500 dollars worth of electronics. Those idiots could have grabbed 3 or four of my better signs and cut me for thousands. I guess its better that there brave rather than smart.

Hunt long and hard the good stuff still out there.

Please don't ever wish that a rare unusual sign gets repoped!!! It will take the fun out of owning an original!!

Security systems guys! Half the price of one of our signs or pumps get's you a cameras / system to both keep an eye on your stuff and keeps the crooks thinking. And how did we get away from the discussion of the unusual Gulf sign....?

Thanks
Mike

I think I saw a center piece on there when I was searching last night too, if anyone needs an extra.

J- the thieves probably didn't wanna rent a uhaul lol. That's what it'd take to move some of yours.

Where my In laws live in Georgia, a very rich man has bought about 5 buildings in town and turned them in to various things: hotel, general store, barber shop, soda fountain, and others. Each one has at least $10,000 of signs on it. None stolen yet.

"Not unusual, center price attachments are hard to find"... Dick Bennett

I like some of my "fun" in it's natural habitat, and not inside away from it's natural environment. Not trying to deceive anyone...just replicate a piece of history.
Sorry to stray from the topic.lol

I may "replicate" a small piece or two...I just don't want to invest all the time! I have restored jukeboxes, neon clocks, pumps, etc. and it was fun, but I don't want to invest hundreds of hours into something that is just going to be a prop(decorator piece). Besides...all that times takes away from my riding(motorcycling) and drinking. LOL

The seller recently sold one for a hundred bucks and in his ad referenced another that had sold on eBay for 222.00. So, like anything else, they are all over the board. For that money (1200+) mine could have a new home.

I had 5 of them and it took forever to get $20. each for them, last year I think I sold the last three for $5. each. There are many more of those little round price signs than there are the big signs. Mine were the painted metal ones, not porcelain.
