No offense to the original poster but you really need to look at this in person. It is extremely faded and retains absoloutely no gloss. Oxidation in the blue lettering is extreme, blue outline ring is faded to white in places and background is pale yellow. In my opinion the sign was buried for several years. Pictures are nowhere close to an actual depiction of the sign.

I passed on the sign after looking at it. That being said, it is extremely rare.

no offense to Okoil1 as I am sure he is an expert and I am not; however, the signed cleaned up a little; the soldier is really nicely colored where it is not damaged. The value is in the rarity as opposed to the perfection. You well know that the other piece he had, while in really good shape, is terribly common whereas this one...not so much. My opinion is, they aren't making any more. The rarity level will make it more valuable...we shall see I guess...because it will be for sale if it doesn't sell to any of the folks who have emailed me.

What matters most is YOU like it. Somewhere a better one may show up that you will like better & step-up higher for it.

IF WE ALL collected the same items in Mint condition, the only reason to visit other collectors would be to see how they displayed the same item.

I was lucky enough to pick up an Overland Service sign the other day that a guy found in a barn. It had issues but brought a nice profit. Additionally someone got it who wanted it...everybody is happy

Cool, rare sign. I'm with Dick on this one. I like some signs with some patina, dirt, bullets etc. Some not so much. This one is a keeper.

What's the deal with this sign? Double listed two different sellers?
