With a back looking like this could this sign be procelain? The say the sign is enamel but they have no experience with porcelain. So their not sure.

Could be--the yellow drips look like paint runs from someone painting the surface next to it. We can probably tell more from the other side.

Well, I'm not sure I'd blame your bidding problems on the Old Gas membership. Not sure where its listed, but if its a public auction, it could be anyone? If you found it somewhere, I'm sure others did too!
