I have dibs on a dozen gas pumps right now and a few round top coke machines. The pumps I am wondering about are (3) Toke 36-B's that appear to be pretty complete. Two of them are a little rough right now and one is exceptionally clean. What are they worth in present condition and if restored?

I can't answer your question accurately but I need to find one! You can put alot of money in a resto and not necessarily get it sold or your money back. I would say leave them as is. Just my opinion

A good complete 36B will part out for around $1200. If thats the pump cost, then you have only to add up the other costs to find out how much you need to sell a restored one for.
To go ahead and restore a pump with the idea of making a decent wage from it, is probably a bad idea in that as soon as you restore it, you have limited your pool of buyers. Colors, branding, chroming, detailing are all factors that each individual buyer will want different and your chances of producing the exact pump that your chanced upon buyer is looking for, is very doubtful.
The people that are doing this for a living and making their wages from it are doing it on an order basis and don't have a huge inventory of finished pumps on hand. Sure, they probably have one or two available to display their talents with but not many more because who knows what the customer will want???

I have found also that by restoring a pump to primer, that is plating, correct parts, hoses, nozzles, body work etc, you will have a wanted pump by a whole lot more people. They do not have to hunt for parts, do the hard work, just fine a friend in which most people have, a painter. This enables you to enjoy the restoration and look of the pump without as said limiting resale. It will be cheaper to do that today than a week, month, or year from now. Nothing is going down for materials and labor.

Thanks for the info guys. Just didn't know if there was much of a market for these pumps restored or not but get your point. Cheers!

Think I'm going to pass on this lot. Pumps are in AZ and they're being offered as one complete group and not being parted out. If anyone's interested in the entire group and you're ready to take them all, here's what there is in Phoenix. It's all part of an estate sale and they need to go at one time. No parts!

Toke 36-B x 2ea unrestored
Toke 39 unrestored
Bennett 541 unrestored (I want the doors and the base)
National A-38 by the looks of it (hidden)
Erie 300 unrestored
Lots of parts kicking around the yard

3ea Round Top Coke machines
Vendo-56 unrestored
Vendo 39 (no drum)
Vendo 110 unrestored

I can forward contact info to anyone willing to step up and buy the lot from the guy. He needs to clear the yard for the estate to sell the house, but he's not looking to be ran over...but offered fair dollar on the complete lot.

I have no part in selling these and was looking to help the guy out by establishing a value on them so I guess I shouldn't be expanding upon this thread in the value section by saying they're for sale? If this post can stay here, you can PM me for any other details, if not, then perhaps a moderator can move this thread to the for sale section as I am not going to be taking these myself due to logistics. I can then post further details.

Sorry, just trying to help the guy out who's inherited these pump by his brothers passing.

The coke machine in front of the A38 is not a 56 but a 81 B or D model.

I'm no Coke expert. smile

There are 2 guys working on buying the 2 lots right now. One from Oregon on 4 restored pumps, and another from Texas that's looking at the group of 7 un-restored pumps. The seller has asked me to give him time to see if a deal can be reached with the 2 Old Gas members involved and will notify me if a deal cannot be completed. Prices are all going to be group based on a bulk purchase at what will likely be wholesale pricing. I'll let you know if something doesn't pan out but would think deals can be settled for all parties involved.
