Picked up an Indian 8"x12" The B&W spork is from Wayne Ohio. They operated out of the old Ford dealer (a building that my Grandfather had rented before they bought it). B&W Oil were Cities Service distributors. I picked up this little mechanical pencil for $.25. I love how the Texaco logo is upside down.

About 2 years ago, I stopped at Hope, North Dakota and inquired about the Standard Pole sign that was out in front of an old Standard Oil dealership. It was the best looking one that I had ever seen. It had both lights in great shape , there was a lighted Amoco Motor Club sign attached to the side and the porcelain flame holder was the best I'd ever seen! I just had to stop and ask about the plans for it. I was told that it might be for sale in the future but that a family friend had indicated a desire to own it and he was first in line. Thinking ahead, I left my name and phone number just in case. I chanced thru that area again, about a year later and the sign was still there, so I stopped by for a visit and indicated that I was still interested in owning the sign and was told that they had kept my phone number but hadn't made any firm plans yet. I thanked them and left without much hope of owning this one! I had yet another chance to drive by the location when I attended the big Keith Johnson estate sale here in North Dakota and as I swung thru town, I noticed that it was gone and didn't bother to stop as I felt this one was gone and into the past! About a week later I received a call from the station owners wife asking if I was still interested in the sign. I indicated that I was but had noticed its abscense from the station the week before! I then got the story about how they had recently sold the station to some friends and had verbally sold the sign to someone in the area for several hundred more than I had offered but that party had never shown up to get it, in over a month. I was informed that I could have it for that price, which I politely declined and stated that my original offer was still available but would go no higher. After a few minutes of conversation about the need to move it from its current location, I was told to "COME AND GET IT THEN" if I could be there within a week! I was there the next day with my trailer and had a great morning visiting and was able to buy a couple more signs and a great old square can! MORAL: Be Friendly--Be Cordial-- and keep checking back!

Heres a couple more pieces that I was able to purchase from the same Standard Oil dealers. The Eureka Harness Oil came in its original crate and has a different picture of the 2 horses on 3 different sides and some instructions on the back. The Cooper tires sign is a painted tin sign with a wood framed background and the Amoco sign was a newer aluminum sign. All items were in great shape and really made my day!

Thanks guys! Very nice stuff this week for all………..
Tom, You will have to blame Dale on the Valvoline….I actually think it's a different sign, it's dated 59 and mine is 51…..I haven't seen it yet, it's still trying to catch a ride home……LOL

Got this nice Sunoco Flange this past last week. A big thanks goes out to Dan Matthews and his crew. His better half for taking my phone bid and the shipping folks for getting it to me so quick. Now I need to decide where in the house is the best place to hang it.
