I bought this 6 or 7 years ago at Iowa Gas and got sick of moving it around and worrying it would get damaged so I mounted the legs and tail, cleared a wall of signs and up she went! Now I can enjoy seeing it every day in my shop (not just the backside covered by moving blankets).

It even turned out to be in nicer shape than I remember, which is always a plus!

I see you used some prepositioned wood blocks! How in the world do you get them in the right place the first time?
I've been thinking about how it would be done for some time now??

Looks good, I got one I need to hang up as well. IMO one of the coolest pieces out there...pretty iconic piece of americana.

I made a template from the back side and used the 3 main mounts to slide over lag bolts. I also hung a couple of safety chains to the upper beam, just to be careful.

The tip to hanging a Pegasus is to mount a 2" x 4" on the studs underneath and then hang the sign from the top wing section. The sign will naturally rest on a wall in this position.

Mobil intended the Pegasus have the top wing section NEARLY horizontal.

Mike, yours looks awesome--

Looks great!
And I agree with DCpate on the positioning. I hate it when I see a Pegasus hanging incorrectly, struggling to fly the way he was intended! smile

Thanks everyone!! I wish I would of hung it years back when I first got it. I had always wanted one and then when I got it I must of had a brain fart to set it aside all these years as now when I come into work in this building, I just look at it and smile!

Looks great! I have a left facing hidden behind some pumps. Would love to hang it, but don't think "I" can do it. The 2X4 is something to think about.
