When Bob was in Viet Nam, his family faced eviction from their house and had to move out quickly. His mom tossed all his baseball cards he collected as a kid from the late 50's to early 60's. He had about three or four hundred of them, including Micky Mantle, Stan Musial, Ernie banks, Yogi Berra, Whity Ford.
Don't know much about baseball cards, but I was crushed to hear that she also threw out letters from 6 of the original 7 astronauts. Bob was into space stuff as a kid and wrote to all of them and they wrote back, hand written letters with photographs from: Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom, John Glenn, Scott Carpenter, Wally Schirra, Gordon Cooper. The only letter he didn't get was from Deke Slayton.
Baseball cards or those letters, I wish he still had them.
