I really am being polite when i comment on this. Your newly purchased sign just ran through the largest auction house in the world. It is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I think you'd have a hard time finding anyone to give over what you paid when you add in shipping.

Then you run the risk of the seller pulling the auction because they thin they won't get what they want. Auctions are a slippery slope that almost always go in the sellers favor.

BUT, Can they Ric? Buyers can always ask seller after auction is pulled what they wanted for sign. IF seller did SHILL this auction, they wanted $50! That is another reason for seller to pay the Little Extra [what, 1/2 a buck ?] eBay charges for RESERVE.

I used to buy barn hangers off eBay.. not that bad but still readable. As i grew in collecting and wanted to buy better signs or pumps i had to sell off those rough signs, and i quickly found out it is next to impossible to sell them, much less to get your money back from those rough things!! Save your money and buy quality. I learned my lesson. And i don't believe the seller would shill bid.

That is another reason for seller to pay the Little Extra [what, 1/2 a buck ?] ebay charges for RESERVE. When you reach the thousand dollar bill, then it's $10.00 for every GRAND. Not sure what RESERVE costs are below that. Only stating the facts that I know 100%. It's in the best interest of any seller to avoid listing with a RESERVE and opt for a high Buy-It-Now and hope a sale develops. This keeps a little more change in your pocket then eBay's...

I'm not a sign person but I think you did ok.
As for bidding I agree with DB 100%.... I'll always snipe at the end of the auction and risk the seller pulling the item, that's better than over paying from a bidding war. I just have to be sure it's in the final 13 seconds, for me it take 7 seconds to process my bid. The last lot of two Sta Lube cans I got, I was lazy and bid at 35 seconds, the bidder I just beat out went back in and ran me up another $27 thinking he would get it. If I had shown interest earlier in the week there's no telling how high he would have bid with time to think about it. I still got a smoking deal though. Just my 2 cents worth.

Sorry to get off topic but I agree with LC336 and DB, as lately I've noticed a lot of auctions with newer eBay buyers that run an auction up $1 at a time, "battling" it out with a ridiculous number of bids. I found early on that when I used to bid early, I rarely won the auction. Now that I wait until the last few seconds, I usually win. That way I can bypass the pair of newbie bidders that placed 35 bids to get an auction up to $36 and bid once and win it for $37. The earlier someone bids the more time it gives the competition to keep running the auction up, so don't give them the opportunity to think about how bad they want it, just snatch it at the end!
