Recently, I read on this site, complaints about members being less than helpful? Having been in this hobby for a really long time, that has never been the case from my experience. As most of you know, we are a restoration shop, specializing in gas pumps.....but doing other things as well. In December, we took in a Wayne 576 clockface gaspump for restoration. It was one of the best examples of "scrap iron" I'd ever seen! I am glad that they brought it to my shop though. We are always up for a challenge and it was that. I started checking around for parts. I found the Ron Scobie made a lot of the parts. Stainless side trim, faces, face bezels, hands, all the I.D.,UL Tags, pump marking tags etc....he makes. He also was kind enough to give some insight into the missing lower access doors....he makes them too. Learned a lot from him on this unit. As with everything the Ron makes.....all the parts fit. There is hardly any fabrication as he has only the best quality stuff. My client decided to go with Red Indian gasoline, as an older look was desired. Tway's Graphics was very helpful and his products are first rate. We are not like the "TV Restoration Shops" where they can restore a pump in a day or two. This one took 6 month's, considering that we had to make all the body panels new. We currently have them programed into the waterjet and can do a set in two days. They are made of 16 guage steel, with hinged side and front doors. Call me if you need a set. In closing, I just want to say Thanks to Ron and Jim for their help here. Also need to thank Andy Anderson who was a great help on the Wayne 60 Norrow Body restoration. There are a bunch of good guys on this site. I appreciate all the help they offer and repay in kind. Have a look at the before and after pictures on my blog. As you all know, I have limited computer skills and can't post pictures here...LOL....Lucky, I'm good with my hands! I have always found that most everyone on this site is very helpful and kind when it comes to finding parts and receiving advice on how to restore gas pumps. I have made many friends. This site is awesome! Severn assisted me just recently in finding a part that I needed for my Gilbarco gas pump and one of the online participants gave me a hard to find part for free. Boo to all of the naysayers.
