I am really starting to love the older cloth gas and oil banners. I haven't bought one yet as they have been pretty hard to find so far. I posted another forum to locate some, but I would love to see some pics of the banners and pennants you guys have.

And of course my Flying A pennant that is covered with pinbacks...

These seem like such an untapped area. They have so much character to them. Those are all great. Keep them coming!

I've got many Gas & Oil,and auto related canvas & paper banners to share.Mainly Chevrolet & Sunoco themed.
Problem is half of them are larger then most walls.
Here's one I bought from a Chevrolet dealership as a kid.
1970 Chevrolet Sports Dept.canvas promoting the new Camaro & Corvette models.

I bought mine at an auction in NH the other year. Also bought a Texaco Marine Products sign that day. Got talking to the former owner and ended up at his house after leaving the auction and bought a gas pump, an air meter and a few other things. We took the siding off his shed and puled the pump out the side wall. It was easier then moving the piles in the way.

From the 20s through the mid 70s, Oil Company's put out some outstanding advertising in the form of banners....

Some I remember seeing before, but some are before my time and I thank everyone for sharing your photos!

Here are a few of my favorites... The Hartford Tire is printed on linen, very thin.. It's my favorite piece in my collection. The pliers poster is also printed on linen, it has wooden strips at the top and bottom to hang in the window of a store. Both safe driving posters are also printed on linen.. Enjoy Keith

Here are a few more, the pennants are early, both from the teens.. The overcoat pennant is printed on felt, with a string to hang in a window, not automotive but still pretty cool!

Here are two more... The United Motors is BIG, it's about 10' long by 3' tall... The Gulf banner is printed on an oil cloth type material, really heavy paper stock.. I'm pretty sure it never hung outside, it's NOS..

The art on these banners is AMAZING. These are so representative of the days before internet and television marketing controlled everything. A day gone by where the artists were the marketers.

Don't know what to call this one but it's on canvas. Banner?

These are flags but I'd think you could call them banners also as they aren't going up a pole anytime soon.

This banner was at the Mason-Dixon show years ago, should have bought it then since I still don't have it.

Here's the one I do have displayed, the others I have are rolled up in tubes still.

Here are a couple of NOS Deep Rock Banners that I plan to hang in my new garage when it gets finished. The are about 3' wide by 8' tall. They even have hardware for mounting them to a pole.
