Jackson WY beautiful place major tourist trap. Wyomings' Aspen Tetons a must see. I have found places to stay in the back street motels in Jackson without reservations but thats been a while ago. You would be better off in Cody, WY, Red Lodge, MT, Cooke Ciy, MT or Gardiner, MT. Everybody should get up there once in their life. JMHO Mitch

Several years ago I turned left instead of right and wound up heading out of Durango,CO. towards Telluride,CO.? Actually took the long way up through the San Juan Forest to Red Mountain, elev. 11,075 ft. Truely beautiful mountain vistas. Beyond Silverton you turn off at Ridgway on Hwy.62 West at 8970 ft. Then South at Placerville to Telluride. Fabulous drive and scenery. Some pictures of Telluride on my blog, if you'd care to look? Riding in the mountains most of the time. Enjoy the trip.
