is real is there?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-MOBIL-THERMO...=item256f7101cb

I can not believe people are this gullable(sp?). Looks like a $20 thermometer with a old $5 decal. This guy even says it's in a replaced case but thats an upgrade? Looks like a clock case to me.He must have ruined the old case removing it to put the decal on. Are people really this Naive and uneducated at all about the stuff they spend their money on?
If you look at his completed listings he has sold 4 "rare original" mobil pegasus clocks in the last few months and for good money.

Perhaps i'm way off base here and have just never seen the clocks and thermometers before?

OK sorry my rant is over but seeing this makes me nuts...

Doubt thats even a modern licensed product. Your right $20 tops. Most seasoned thermometer collectors would almost never fork over more than $100 for a "band type" thermometer. It can be opened and tampered with

I understand what you are saying nochevys...I see Mobil items like this sell all the time that are no where near original or even close to an original item. People slap a vinyl sticker or older decal on something and it instantly becomes attractive to new/novice collectors that do not take 5 minutes to do some research and discover that the items are fakes. It drives me nuts too, but as I had said once in a previous post, sometimes it's hard to feel sorry for people that do not research the items they are buying. If I were spending the money some of these people have, I would want to know EXACTLY what I was buying. I understand there are some fakes that fool experts, but most of this stuff is blatent fantasy junk.

I don't care if it's a $5 $500 $5000 item....if you do not know what you are buying DO THE LEG WORK....it's amazing how many great resources are out there and if your spending your hard earned money there is no reason you should not do homework except being lazy.

I've been looking for a round Mobil thermometer and clock for a bit and when I saw this I just shook my head. I mean it was such a bad copy. I knew I wouldn't be able to get a real one so I made my own clock and bought a repo thermometer. But again really!

If you check his completed listings. You will note that he has sold five generic clocks with a pegasus water transfer decal. A fraudster!
