Hello All,
This crown looks legit to me, especially the weathering on the top areas which look like a lot of other authentic colored crowns I've seen that saw real use. eBay item 190651359231
I'm sure it's way out of my league price-wise (if it meets the reserve) but I'm curious what others think it might sell for. This is the first one I've seen for sale. Probably not many of these tractor grade fuel globes survived life on the farm!

That newby wants it... It only took him 17 bids to get up to the reserve....... He really liked those $10 higher bids... LOL

:-) I really like that color! Green looks good on crowns! Wonder what it'll cost to win it.

I'd bet VERY FEW IF ANY were ever Used/Displayed on a Farm.
There would have no reason Unless they were selling Tractor Fuel.

Glad to see the reserve has been met, now we'll see IF seller lets the auction go to the end! Seems every neat item like this I want to see sell gets ended and sold outside of eBay... We'll wait and see.
What do you think then DB, did they use these at rural stations that sold tractor fuel and the folks brought there own containers to fill and took back to the farm? Probably weren't many of these globes ever in use back in the day then either?

Would have been used where ever Tractor Fuel was being sold [small bulk dealers, farm supply/feed stores etc.

Scotts book describes it representing "Naptha Tractor Fuel" and having been used during the 30's.

We were still using the same globe on our kerosene, diesel pump at the Standard station I worked at in 1954-55. Mitch

I have an NOS Green Crown in the original box. The globe itself is of a later design with PROPERTY OF STANDARD OIL embossed around the bottom rim. The box is stamped GREEN CROWN and has what I believe is a box manufacturers date code on the bottom of 1960.

That would kind of validate his crown, as it has the slash marks of a later crown along the bottom edge instead of the darts like the earlier crowns had.
