Well, just when you think you've seen everything,,,,,
I have a Veeder Root rebuild request from Argentina, I have not seen the cabinet,
but the guts are Wayne, and it is a 1935 Veeder Root.

This 1935 Veeder Root is unusual.....
It has 4 wheels in each bank cool first one of them puppies I've ever seen.
It is limited range, .49 9/10
The right lower drive wheel is not numbered(?)
It is half black, half white in a long triangular pattern (?)
I am not able to retrieve a decent copy of it from the file he sent, but if it gets here I will post a better one and a finished picture.

Can anyone abroad can tell me what the purpose of the 2 tone wheel is? Why it is colored that way?
If this came out right there should be a pic of what a decal would look like to cover that wheel.

That VR is different. Here is one I never seen, but you probably have. It is in a tall Tok 39. Jacks book says it is a high speed pump.

Is it a computer or a non-computer?

It has 1 top blinder = top wheels are missing.
Top wheels are the $$$ wheels.

non computers don't have variator guts.
Some do have price wheels though(??????)

I'll know a little more when it arrives.

Can you post a closer pic of the face?
The totalizer is missing... but I have one.

How many of you read the title of this post and thought "reproductions?"....LOL

Matt,
I'm going to have to kill a 4 wheel like that one for parts for this computer.
Lucky for Manu, I have one. I took it in for a 3 wheel sent out not needing it.
I guess the gas pump gods are pleased since this is going into retail service.
I'll have to put indented wheels in it, so it is correct.

If anyone has this style of side totalizer( with the round hole)
Please sell it to me for this computer.
This model will accept the newer totalizer wheels, and can be rebuilt in the future. The older side totalizers use a different trip location.
Thanks
Joe

Variator is done. Indented wheels are going back in since this unit will be in service again.
Gears inside red circles had to be replaced.

The entire unit was disassembled. These gears hold in one direction and slip in the opposite direction, that is how the unit is able to reset. The springs and rollers are what makes this possible.

The Head of this computer has been through the mill.
The linkage has way too much wear, leaving a gap on the side w/ the red arrow.
The side with the black arrow has cut into the metal. This will have to be cut, and a brass insert installed.
Veeder Root saw this as a flaw and added brass inserts later.
Most of the time there is a problem in this area, it is the flare of the cast breaks off.
The flare holds it all together.

Once the frame is repaired I can start assembling the Head.
If this is not repaired the steel linkage part will continue to eat into the softer metal of the frame.

Mr. Alvarez found the totalizer this unit needed. This stlye takes the wheels made between 1936-2012.
Rebuilt and ready, still waiting on the machine shop.

I robbed a 4 wheel #49 for the wheel shafts.
The problem with that is an 8" computer turns opposite of a 12" Computer, so the shafts have to be reversed.
In order to do this the ends have to be heated red, cooled slow to remove temper, so they can be drilled on the opposite end.

A brass insert for the linkage was made, the frame machined and the insert pressed in.

The gear had to be cut and a bushing installed, the hole was worn way too much to go into service.
