Since one kind member had inquired about what sort of Veedol I had 'hiding' in the collection, I thought I would share some photos of what I have. It is seldom seen out here in Alberta, yet they have been selling here since at least the 1930s. I was lucky to get an original Canadian base and post for my sign, though I didn't realize that the round holder was slightly skewed to one side until after I had it powder-coated. I had to redrill the hanging holes so the sign wouldn't set at an angle. I am still looking for early Canadian Veedol cans in good condition but they are scarce. So here is mine, let's see yours! Cheers, Coop.

Coop you have an excellent Veedol Collection; Especially the large and small diamond star-burst cans. Thanks for sharing the look-see.

I see a couple cans that will now be added to my wish list for my collection...

We had some Vedol stuff here , but that was well after the merger of Associated and Tidewater oil companies . Then , ole Getty took over an we have ONE Getty station and convenience store here . I know they were a larger presence in Southern new Jersey than here . Thanks for sharing the photographs ! Ed Shaver

Thanks for all the comments. It has been a long addiction that I hope will never have a cure. A lot of thought, miles on the road, good friends, contacts, pickers and dealers that have helped make it what it is. A collector/friend calls the collection the candy store. The smaller round Veedol cans are all Canadian imperial oil quarts, including the small diamond one which I believe is their first sealed quart starting in 1934. In the last photo the two taller round cans, cream and black, are Canadian gallons and the square can in the middle is a 6 imperial quart can. Cheers.

Your small diamond star-burst Imperial is a great find and has too be one of the hardest Veedol qts to find....
