Wow! I'm rather surprised that he's selling it. He did say it was the best sign he's ever owned. I wonder what happened? shocked

Looks like he's building a house. Should be good for a couple upgrades.

Thanks Ron. I will, its not a ton of signs but there are some pretty good ones. Its a pan-am collection with a couple other oddball signs.

We now have 12 bidders with 59 bids and the high bid is $9598

Personally, I would never have guessed it, even though I love the sign!

The other sign's seller is a 0% feedback with 34 sales. I would not go anywhere near that auction with a 10' long stick

Edit: maybe my eBay app is messing up on my phone because it does show he has positive feedback but his % is still 0.

Whoever the seller is on here needs to realize that money is better than nothing for that sign. You can end the auction early with a very good feedback bidder as the winner. You don't want to end up with a non-payer and be out the time you put into it. Take the money and run on the next good feedback(with alot of feedback) bidder!

I believe this was the L.I. Duckling sign that was offered on Craigslist. The sellers name was Jim.

Back in the day, here on the eastern part of Long Island, there were many several duck farms in the 1920's-1960's. Many of them closed due to the waste situation which was getting out of hand and polluting the bays and connecting waters.

Here is the link where he got the sign which has my posting of the L.I. Duckling sign that currently resides inside the big duck in Flanders....

http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=303967#Post303967

I know of 6 originals...2 on ebay and 4 local to me....The Big Duck one, and at least 3 in private collections which includes the one I threw an offer at last year of $600. I was testing the waters on that. They wanted more than double I believe and just didn't know what they were worth to be honest. Now I wish I had made the investment....Oh, well. LOL!

The bid is still the same, but the bid count has gone up one! Means the high bidder has raised his own bid and now has an absentee bid in place!!!
Wonder how high he went? Guess we'll find out if someone else bids!!!

Found I had one item in my collection related to Long Island Ducks. Just a post card size card. Picked some up at a local flea market from a guy that was from Long Island.
If any one wants one I think I have four more. $5.50 and I'll stick one in an envelope and mail ya one.

Hollis Warner's son lives in the next town over from me. However, he's in the monument business. I was physically in one of the Warner's Duck Farms barns a week and a half ago....they closed in the 70's.

Its funny how drastically opinions vary. I would put a realistic value of $75-125 on his sign......now thats a waste of a whole months time?? Im sure it will be on ebay for a decade before a movie set needs it.

Nice looking sign. If you paid a sign man to produce something like that, it probably would cost $800-1200 minimum.
