This is in response somewhat to the rule change thread.
I'm a member on a message board for my beloved Oklahom State Cowboys. Years ago the discussion forum was having problems with moderato g the post and content. Their solution was to create a premium board. $9.99 a month or $100 per year. This gave the more serious fan a chance to discuss without the gossip, trash talk, etc. Etc.
I realize that rabid college sports fans and hobbyist are two different animals. I do believe that a premium content section would eliminate some of the issues that irritate the more collector oriented and established members. I would easily pay $10 per month to be privy to a premium content board that might feature two private forums (for subscribers) general discussions and for sale. All of the other forums and an additional general discussion and for sale could remain free.

FWIW .. Capitalism hates what the internet was built for, FREE exchange of ideas and sharing of knowledge.
I want a full accounting of that 9.99!
I think it should be used to pay down the national debt!
Better yet, why not spend that 9.99 locally at your local hardware store for some wax or other cleaner for your signs and pumps and leave the free flow of ideas free!
BTW.. Oldgas doesn't have any issues with moderation... it's simply a few people who prefer Pebble Beach Concours De Elegance to the Daytona Turkey Rod Run and swap meet.

Most of you probably understand that I don't run this site for the money. Bookkeeping who paid or didn't and renewals would drive me nuts. LOL

I for one pretty much like the site as is. When I see things that I partcularly don't care for (even when I see individual members trying to police and moderate)I just scroll right on by. Well done, well moderated. Thank you Mr. Potts and moderators.

I don't think $9.99 fee would make me smarter.

Most already know that if you bid on e-bay via these forums (for example though one of the sales you see at the top of some of the forums--sales, on-line auctions etc) a % is given to the site. There is also a shop with books, sweatshirts etc. And if I missed something, someone speak out...
When I was selling my prints, I asked Jim to deduct a commission for himself, and I know of a few other direct sellers who have on occasion sent him money after a good sale. Some sellers have had auctions on this site where all the proceeds from the sale go to support these forums.
So there are things one can do NOW to financially support the site without dues. And you can use your imagination of what you personally can do to show appreciation.

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
