If you know who made the thermometer you may try to contact them for a replacement element. These things aren't generic as they don't work from thermometer to thermometer, The heighth of the thermometer and the spacing of the graduations determines the size of the element.

tried that dick thanks .. echo is one that produces some correct and affordable shorter tubes although the shipping is something else .. while anything over 12" is just a minimum order of only 2000 pieces! now what to do with the other 1999 huh

your right there rod about the length and graduations determining the required tube .. unfortunately most of them are around to ask .. so even if we can get one thats close... it would be better than nothing we think .. the biggest problem is most of what were needing are longer than 12"
