This weekend I'm heading up to remove the G&B T-176 pump I bought from my Dad. It's still attached to the tank. Anything that I should watch out for when removing this? It's actually held up by the pipes and is not hooked up to electricity, so it looks like I should be able to unhook the pipes and it's free.
My understanding from another thread is that these have suction pumps. Just to make sure, is there anything in the tank I should get?
How much does one of these weigh (minus the globe)?
What is the height (again, minus the globe)?
I did find a pretty good thread on how to transport these and got some ideas on how to do it. Looks like a 2x8 sheet of plywood and some padding is the answer.
Thanks, Jim

You might want to add a chain wrench..... a long enough piece of about 1" shaft and a large hammer to bang on the pipe coupler to help jar it loose.... guessing it has been on there for quite awhile.

I KNEW there was a reason that I should ask the experts! Thanks guys for the info and the advice. Luckily in Iowa I don't have to worry about scorpions and usually don't have to worry about snakes. It's good to know the height of this thing so that I can make sure that I have enough room in my garage for it. Pipe wrenches, chain wrench and cheaters are a must. It's been in place for at least 40 years and more likely 70 or more. Worst case scenario I'll use the Sawzall on the tank end of the pipe (it hasn't been used in over 40 years) and disconnect it that way.

A 3/4"-1"rod w/ a large flange [hand protector] about 24"-30" long & 3# hammer as bob said will take less time & save knuckles vs a Sawzall, but if you must take Extra batteries.
