got a red metal Jerry can gas can. Want to put a large Texaco decal on it.
The "x" part of it indents. Any suggestions on how to fill it in and not have the decal sink in over time?

Cut a piece of thin but firm metal (alum, tin) or plexiglas the same size as the decal. apply the decal onto the material and then silicone or liquid nails it to the can. do this with the can lying on it's side, use weight overnight (like books) sitting on top of the decal/disc. don't apply the glue to close to the edge, it could ooze out.

Apply decal to Magnet material, instead of to can.

You didn't say if it's powder coated or paint. There is all kinds of fillers that will work.(TWO PART} you can find at lowes, hardwarestores etc. Then from longevity stand point.Lead process where you melt, and pour. You can pick up enough wheel weights from local tire shop to do the can,but they will have, junk in them that must be skimed off the top. Don't breath this as it melts, and grind out X to bare metal. LOL
