Hey Guys, glad you liked it, I am especially glad John liked it...LOL. John has to be one of the most patient guys I have ever met, he had to wait awhile on this one. A nice touch is the Wayne embossing at the top, it is done in gold leaf lettering and outlined in black, John's idea.

You know there is always a story that goes with anything we do in this hobby, well here is a short story about restoring this pump John has not even heard. As John said, even the pump works. We decided to leave this totally original. I completely disassembled all the pump mechanism to get the smell out - this pump is in his kitchen/dining room - and lubed all the moving parts so he could turn it on just to hear it run. The motor mounts directly to the pump in a vertical arrangement. I removed the motor and then I wanted to disassemble the pump. Over the input shaft of the pump was an aluminum collar/nut that screwed down and held a big spring in place, I think the spring keep the pump packing tight. So here I am blissfully unscrewing this nut with this big spring under it. This spring is a compression spring that is big enough that you can't compress it by hand, bigger than say a valve spring out of a 426 hemi motor. Anyway here I am unscrewing the aluminum collar/nut...right?....well the threads were not right hand...unbeknownst to me I was tightening the collar further compressing the BIG spring....I still don't know to this day what I was thinking when I was turning the nut...obviously not what I should have been thinking about...all of a sudden all hell broke loose...the aluminum collar/nut could not contain the spring any longer and the spring blew the top off the collar...the spring exploded straight up hitting something then ricocheted across the room at warp speed. Luckily it missed me...THAT would have left a mark. And who said pump restoration was a safe hobby.
