I just realized Wes didn't have a chance to start this thread before he went out of town, so I'll kick it off for him. I don't have any picture on my computer, so it's up to you guys!

Hey Guys & Gals,

It's time to share the petro relics that we've stumbled across in our recent travels, and check out what other people have found as well.

If you would like to contribute to this feature, simply post the pictures here or email them directly to me and I will post them for you. Be sure to include a story or description with your submissions.

If it's too close to the next installment, please note that I may hold your contribution for posting when the new FATW comes up.
Send 'em in!!

Happy Trails!

Wes

Here's an old Gulf station in a place called Sundborn in Dalarna, Sweden. It is a very pitoresque village with timber cottages etc. We found this last weekend when we were cross coutry skiing in the area.
Great to see they had started to sell Gulf oil again:-)

My wife was cruising Highway 6 in Southern Nebraska and snaped a shot of this outbuidling on a farm on her way home.

It looks like this one that I took in December. The dealership just closed recently. I don't remember if I posted these photos before or not.

I saw this Phillips 66 sign getting covered over by the pine tree on M-40 just South of M-60 in Michigan.

Yep. The dealership is completely empty. I'm not sure who owns it though. I tried finding out online, since I'm not local, but it is small town rural and they don't seem to have much available online. I am going to have my father-in-law do some checking.

The ford sign that "halehouse" took a pic of is still hanging there. It's in Titusville Pa (birthplace of the 1859 oil industry, Edwin Drake, penn drake etc etc). Its one of those "not for sale" items due to the fact the same family started a ford dealership in the 20's - 30's with that very same sign near Tidioute Pa, it has been in the family forever and it has been restored. They currently use this dealership to store their collector cars. Next time by look inside, you'll see some other original neon ford signs !

Yep, that's where it is. Good to know.
My wife is from there. Last time I was up it was empty. I'll have to check out the building again.
