Hey Alan, I have about 20 old hand oilers like that and 1 of them has gem co on it and was wondering if it was worth $94.00 like that one. Your right it must have pierce arrow on the can which makes it rare. A lot of my other cans have EAGLE on them. You would think if the pierce arrow script was so rare he would have taken a close up of it . Thanks,
Jim

hey jim===i agree,,gem and eagle were the 3 biggest makers of those cans....i don`t think its worth the asking price even if was that rare you would think he would of taking a closer picture and noted how rare it is...i as for the asking price i would never pay that much, unless it was so important to personally if you had a pierce arrow car or something along those lines--if you now what i mean==its ll in the eyes of the beholder,,,i think the shipping and handling is out of control..i have over 1200 handy oilers and i would pay that amount for a rare one but not for that one i think its still a pretty common one..but that`s just me!!! alan

I have not looked at it, but if it is an oiler used on a Pierce Motorcycle 94.00 will be a fraction of the final price..IMO..

I know, I could ship that can to Hong Kong for that price....What is a Pierce Arrow anyway? A car, a bike? Jim

22 bucks for shipping is high. Thats just a way of avoiding a portion of ebay fees. A well known dealer had a map on ebay for a reasonable price, but shipping was listed at $20. A friend was interested in the map but figured the shipping price was a mistake so he asked the seller about it. The seller's reply: The shipping price stated was correct. The map will be packed well.
As for the oiler. I would think that someone that owned a Pierce Arrow car would gladly pay $94 for a Pierce Arrow oiler.

This came from the seller last night. go figure.
Hi Doug I tried to take a picture of the script, however, because it is dark in color the script did not show up the camera flash caused a reflection. As I described, the script is very clear considering the age of the oil can. You won't be disappointed in the condition of the oil can,it has been in my family for a long time. I am 60 years old, it was given to me from my grandfather who had a friend that owned many Pierce Arrows. Thanks

I am certainly not an expert on oil cans, but I will share a bit of info on this can question. On page #6 of the Barrett/Jackson auction catalog, for the January 2007 sale, item No.4131 is the what looks like the same can that is now for sale on ebay. It is described as stamped "Pierce Arrow" needs cleaned and polished, size 3"x3"x8". If you have access to a copy of the catalog check it out.Norm.
