WAS THIS COMMON PRACTICE TO PRINT OIL INFO ON THE BOTTOMS OF CANS?
OR DID SHELL JUST DO THIS FOR THE AD?

I've never seen anything other than the pectan stamped on bottom of SHELL cans. Very few cans have their name stamped on bottom.

Most likely that was for that add only and what you see on the bottom was probably on the top lid which was a fairly common pratice.

Guys - that's an illustration, not a photograph.

The Illustrator just took 'Artistic License' with the info on the original can to make it easy to read in the ad.
