I have a large Hancock pail with the very early rooster that I cannot even get $60 for. I had sold one with the top for about $130 in nicer condition yet the quart cans can go as high as low thousands, why such a price variance. Is it the size or are the large pails alot more common?

5gal cans in less than perfect condition are a hard sell, regardless of company.

Quart Cans are the Most Collected and Desired size. This is why the Value is much higher on them. 5 gallon cans take up as much room as a Dozen Quarts....

56CS It sounds like what you have might be a grease bucket.
Why don't you put it in the for sale section with a picture and see what it will bring. Like hancock-oil says condition is everything.
I would pay more for a Heccolene 5gal. oil can in good condition than I would for a quart can.
