Have you ever seen a NOS 1960's pump in it's original box? Complete with original paint, pump plates, globe and never installed? How would this compare in value to a restored pump of same vintage? Maybe this is more common than what I think but I've never seen anything like it.
Thanks for any info.

I dunno, I would say it could bring more as new is well, new . Restored is to "Bring back to like new condition " . You're new once and from there out , it's still a used piece of equipment . Ed Shaver

Beckmantb, Depends on what the pump is really. a pump in the original crate with globe that was meant for lets say a mobil station might be worth more money to a mobil collector than a pump collector. To put a exact dollar figure... well we would need to see it to give you an idea and at that it's just an idea.
So what did you find? LOL
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Bennett 766. It's a Sinclair with Dino glass and 3 piece globe. I was just wondering how rare this is. Are there hundreds or thousands of these NOS pumps out there? I've never seen a NOS pump of any make before. I know when I've had NOS anything else, there's been a premium but wasn't sure if that translated through to pumps.

If you had a NOS pump and were able to put it next to a nicely restored pump you might find that the NOS pump is not as detailed as the restored one. These were production units coming off an assembly line, and when they were delivered I doubt they were scrutinized like a buyer of a new 1957 Chevy might be, or a person who was buying the restored pump might be today.
I have seen a few (2-3) NOS pumps and one NOS ECO Islander, in the 25 years of being in this hobby.
Since just about every petroleum equipment dealer's warehouse has been looked throught, I doubt very much there are many NOS pumps waiting out there to be found.

Not sure about that. Probably a good chance though if these are really rare. What did they want for the one that you saw?

Beckmantb, It was in a cardboard box and guys here were questioning if it was n.o.s. or remanufactured. If think it was like $2500 maybe? I am not a pump guy so my memory isn't that great. LOL

OMG, a Texan that's thinking ! Up to approx. 1950 they were crated in wood, after wards most were shipped w/ cardboard on a wood pallet.
