Hi There. I've been given a Bennett 541 (lucky me!) It still has the pump motor in it, making it VERY heavy.

How would I remove the pump motor, so I can begin restoring this classic?

Could I contract a local welder to cut it out? Any idea would be most helpful!

respond: johnny.randolph@gmail.com

or here, if that's better

THANKS!

Most bennett pumping units are bolted in from the bottom, and have two mounts on the sides.....oil & good tools...
hammer, chisle ,vise grips,torch.
Best to take pics when tearing down what you will put back together.
...let me know if you need the computer rebuilt

Sawzall or torch is the quickest way & less busted knuckles. I have only had 1 small fire & it burnt like oldgas/diesel, no damage.

Personally, I've never had to resort to the "hot wrench".I've never ran into anything that was rusted so badly that I couldn't figure a way to just break it off.I have had to drive a good SnapOn socket onto it,then use an adapter to put a 3' 3/4 "ratchet on it to get it done, but I've always been able to break them off.

I have a torch in the shop, but I would take it to a friend of mine who is a professional welder if I couldn't break them off.I'm not that good with a torch!!!

I removed the pump unit from my 541 with alot of wrench turning and some wd40. Just get in there and start cranking away.

Just start wrenching and it will be out before you know it.
