Can anyone give me an idea when the Gargoyle logo was discontinued?
I have just bought a Mobiloil globe (Briish) that was painted up by the garage way back when, underneath the paint is the original globe design from the late 20's, I am tring to work out the latest date it could have been repainted, the mobiloil logo looks like it could be a waterslide decal.
Thanks

Hi Gary- Most of the Gargoyle stuff In US ended about 1937 although I have seen some lube charts etc that still carried the Gargoyle into early 40s--- hope this helps- thanks don

Well after much thought I decided to strip back the old paint from this globe to reveal it's original design, I just took a little paint off the side first, just to see how good the old art work would be.
and here's the result, ROP was a cheaper grade of fuel in Britain supllied by "Russian Oil Products" this globe is from the late 20's and is a rare find over here. Sorry if i've upset any Mobiloil guys!

ROP was in the Norwegian market to, with headquarter in Bergen. They operated between 1930 to 1952, when they was taken over by Nor & Vacuum A/S (Mobil).
