Can anyone tell me if this is a reproduction sign or if it's an original? Any idea on age and value? I emailed the guy who has the sign and asked if it had any dates on it, but he said it didn't.
Thank you. Mac

I would bet due to the Size of it From the Photo it is NOT a reproduction. Not sure of Value but appears to be in Excellent Condition. What is the size of it??

Mick, I actually had an old motor like that. I gave it to a friend who wanted a vintage motor for his fishing boat. Still haven't heard back on the size of the sign, but looks like it's maybe 30" X 48" ?
I'll post the dimensions if the guy ever gets back to me. He said it was embossed.

What, like this one right here? A 3 HP Evinrude Lightwin, from 1959? Rebuilt in 2009 (all it needed was a new water pump impeller), runs perfectly, in use every year? Who would want one of those? Love the sign. I'd love to have it, as I'm sure many here would! It definitely goes with my favourite engine, that I've owned for 45 years! And it was my grandfather's before that!
Always looking for Texaco Canada, Supertest, White Rose, McColl Frontenac, and Miller Oil Co. info.

That looks like the one I got rid of. My friend wanted it pretty bad so I just gave it to him for his boat. I bought the one I had an an estate sale for $15. I didn't need one, but for for $15 I couldn't walk away from it. Also picked up a 7 hp Sea Horse that I gave to another friend of mine. Only gave $10 for that one, but it had some dents in it.

I spoke with a guy last year at the swap meet in Arlington Texas, a sign just like it he had for sale. Based on the larger size I thought it was original but he said a limited number was made by a friend of his. He was asking $500.00. It looked very nice and had no date stamped on it. He also had a smaller version about half of the size pictured for $300.00.

Thanks Aaron. I tend to think it's a reproduction, perhaps one made by the guy you mentioned. It looks too good, IMO, to be very old. And, since there is no date on it, it also makes me think it's a reproduction.
The guy is asking $500 so it's funny you mention that $500 was what the other guy had on his.
I like the sign a lot, but don't want a reproduction.
Thanks Mac

Mac..the guy asking 500.00 for the one you're looking at also had another one (smaller) he was asking 100.00 for about a month ago. Both in the same condition.
I think they are both repops.

I agree with Aaron. There are 2 sizes of this sign that are being reproduced and neither size is dated or marked as reproduction. I talked to someone at Hershey last fall that knew the guy repopping them. They look very good and seem convincing unless you know. Hope this info helps. Canosaurus Dave.
