I was in an antique shop yesterday and saw a Citi Services metel tow truck. It was about 18" long and about 5" wide.
It was like and early snub nose mac, with a flat bed and solid sides that ran the entire length of the bed, they were the same height as the cab and rounded off at the back. There was no tow device or cab lights. I like it but I dont want to over pay, any one know wht its worth? Its in great shape. It had Citi Services tow truck on the side and the name in various places. Could not find a maker name on it. Sorry no pics.
Thanks
Lee

What you found is a Marx Cities Service wrecker. The maker's name is on the lower right side of the cab, just above the running board if it is like the ones I have. The booms can be found but not that often and usually not complete(crank handle, chain, hook, and boom). It does not carry cab lights other than lithoed ones in the paint. If there was two holes in the top of the cab, they would be for the plastic horn assembly which is usually missing and hard to find, also.

It's hard to give a value on an incomplete truck especially without seeing it or at least a picture. Complete ones in nice condition go anywhere from $175 to $400, with the upper price being near mint to mint. Hope this helps....Dale

I've seen an awful lot of these and I own a very minty one. The value is limited because of all the missing parts but I believe it would still be worth$40 to $70, depending on the paint condition! Hard to find those tires and rims too, and theres 4 of them on that truck. Cab and bed would both sell on ebay, so if you parted it out---it should bring over $50 easily! JM2C

I had a near mint beautiful condition one in past and it did not go for the kind of money I thought it would, been awhile but I do not think I got anywhere near the $200 I was trying to get. Surprised as I thought with the Cities service gas station advertising on it that it would have gone high

Still if I could get one in the condition of yours for $25 or $35 I would buy it. Just don't pay alot for a mint one, they don't go that high

No one has mentioned that there is a tool box on the inside of the bed and it should have 2-3 tools in it to be complete. I believe a 4-way lug wrench and 2 other tools.

Jack is right on the tools! Worth more if it has the spare tire and the tools in the toolbox! I have personally seen these on ebay that brought over $400 and a very nice one still continues to bring about $200. Now remember, I said a NICE one! Theres a lot of difference in condition and you have to look close> They are neat old trucks tho! Heres a nice one!
