I found this in the attic of a local station! It's galvanized metal and 9 3/4 X 12 Inches... 1 sided painted metal and marked on backside this went on north side of wayne pump... Questions are???...Is this rare? What era? possible value? I know it's a Chicago company and any about the sign would be great! Thanks for your time...

I don't believe it is a pump plate, Lubrigas was an additive I believe. Not a Gasoline brand. There was a pic on here not long ago of a larger Lubrigas sign

Sure looks like a pump plate to me. Here is a picture of a sign I have. Doesn't say anything about being an additive. Very cool piece. I'll get in the long buyer line LOL.

I have the same sign as Bustermonty, plus a few of the full quart glass bottles with paper lables. the directions on the labels says to mix the oil with your gas. I got the sign and bottles together from Bruce Davis, {Kyle Moores uncle} years ago and did have any idea Gas was sold under this brand. Cant ever remember seeing one of the stations..

1st time I met Bruce he had 4 WAYNE 452's in his warehouse w/ approx 20 other visibles & globes stacked just about every where. My 1st complete visible was bought in Gotebo & belonged to Bruce.

Hey Dick, Thats neat to know..Bruce had a place in Mountain View, when I bought the Lubri-Gas stuff. First time I remember Bruce was around 1974 at Chicksaw swap meet. He had a stack of MOBILGAS pump shields a foot high, and was selling them for 15 dollars or 2 for 25 dollars. I splurged and bought 2,,,

I just bought a 1946 Ford Truck. I had to take out the gas tank to remove some rust, and you wouldn't believe what I found! Inside the tank there was a glass "Lubri-gas" bottle. The labeling is printed directly on the glass, and it is in decent condition. Someone must have dropped the bottle while pouring. The rust seems to be cleaning off OK without damaging the label. There is sediment in the bottle I need to clean out too. Pretty cool find I think. Can anybody date this for me? I also found a book of matches from 1954 under the seat, and cigarette rolling papers to go with them.

Everyone I have talked to agrees they were known for selling additives, etc... From the very beginning that has been the consensus with the ones Ive talked to... They evidentally sold gasoline with their additive in it like Premium or something ALSO... ~COOL bottle Darren~
