Yes, just like that for 200 miles half of which was cow trails! i couldn't bear laying them down and chancing any damage. These both were still in use recently so everything is intact and in incredible shape! ( what you can't see in the pic. is the two come alongs anchoring the pumps down. They hardly wiggled on the way home. )

I notice that both are Tokheim 39s. Please don't buy anymore short 39s and put them together in a shed out back. In less than six months there will 4 of them, and guaranteed within a year there will be 8 of them, they just seem to multify by themselves.
Great find, but I never damaged a pump laying it down.

Funny I've heard that somewhere else before, Maybe I'll mix breeds ( say a Bennett & Tokheim ) and see if I come out with some kind of rare crossbreed. As for hauling them upright I also did so because one still had gas in it and the other full of Diesel. I guess what I should have said was I couldn't bear to dirty the bed of my truck. My bad! I notice that both are Tokheim 39s. Please don't buy anymore short 39s and put them together in a shed out back. In less than six months there will 4 of them, and guaranteed within a year there will be 8 of them, they just seem to multify by themselves.

Lay them pumps down..........LOL If one starts to tip, you won't be able to stop it. You not only could damage the pump, but if it flips out on the highway you are creating a real hazard.

one way to to lay them down is to put a 2x12 underneath.i put it behind the pump and tip the pump over with the board.then slide the whole shebang in the van.pull out the board, pump comes with it and tilt over. havent had a problem yet!!

My buddy and I was coming home one day with a 96C strapped just like in the PIC. The pump "ate" thru the strap during the trip, went around a tight turn and BAM! over the side of the truck it went. Lucky it didn't hit the bed, and no one behind us. Brady

Lay the pumps down on old, discarded tires...preferable softer ones and strap it down that way...should preserve the glass and get it home fine...

once i bought 6 pumps at an auction about 2hrs away from home, had to haul all 6 of them standing up plus 3 lubsters. that was a long and exciting ride home my truck squating all the way. i had them straped, tied, wired, but they were like a bed full of leaning tower of pisas. those pumps were rockin all over the place, but i made it with no damage that time. chris

When I haul 4 or more pumps, I always leave them standing up, just wrap one long ratchet strap around them holding them together and then throw a couple of straps over the lot to tie them to the trailer. I've hauled them several hundreds of miles this way, and haven't had any problems, yet. Tony

Sanford: You are probably good having that many tied together as a base. But, the key word you typed is "YET". There is a picture in an old gas restoration book that showed a trailer load tipped over on the road.
