I would like to know what this shelving unit was used for and it's approx. time period. It has threaded holes on the bottom on both sides at the back corners as if it attached to something. Is it missing top caps on both sides in the upper top back corners? Also what was put in the back large pocket area? Any info and help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Well, here's my two cents. I do body work for a living and I know that there is a Blackhawk company that makes a lot of frame equipment. For straightening frames and doing other misc. body repair. And I also know that a Porta-Power is a hydraulic ram that has different fittings and different length rods that can be used with the ram to push panels back into shape. Maybe that was a shelf for storing the ram and the different fittings. I may be way off, but I think it's a good guess. Sure would look good in my garage holding my porta power anyway.

I agree that it is probably for a porta-pwer pump, cylinder, and accessories. That's a great emblem on it, and the styling of the shelf is fantastic. I wish I had it!

If it has threaded holes, it's more likely that something attached to it, rather than it attaching to something by those holes.

That is right that Blackhawk Porto-Power is a brand name for hydraulic rams and attachments to push/pull out auto body damage. The older models had extension pipes and fittings that were connected to each other with standard pipe threads. The storage unit threaded holes may have been for organizing threaded attachments. The 4 ton sets used 3/4 inch pipe threads.

We have one of these at a local garage in town, still full of goodies.

Thanks, Phil
