I found this sign post and top portion piece at a old Texaco Distributor location. I can get both for free which is a good price. My question is: is this a sign post that is missing the round ring top portion that would hold the 6' round sign, or is it a sign post that would have some other kind of sign on it? I am not sure so any info or picture showing what is missing or what a complete unit would look like would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Bill--Yes, you're just missing the sign and its holder and they would have been bolted to the pole, thru those holes that are there. There should be some threaded nuts welded below those holes and the top portion would just bolt onto it. Don't waste time or the next thing you know, they will have gone for scrap iron. Not sure what sign sat on top but it was probably one of those later model Texaco signs, since that is where you found it. Now go get them!!!!

Not a Texaco guy, but it doesn't look like a 'banjo' frame to me. Looks more like the newer Texaco frame that would have been more rectangular.

Most likely held a lighted texaco sign like this one.

Or maybe a porcelain one like this...but I think the top on the pole suggests the lighted version.

I agree it is a pole for the later Texaco sign. The round earlier sign had the banjo pole & ring & was not flat at the bottom like the one pictured smile
