I've had good luck cleaning up nastiness with Simple Green. I've had a few pumps that were coated in old diesel fuel. Things absolutely stank, I had to throw out the clothes I brought them home in. Sprayed em down really well with SImple Green and let it soak a few hours, then powerwashed. No more stink. I'd try something similar with your lubester.

Right, but be sure to take it to the local car wash and spray it out. Jack Sim

They also make a Simple Green Xtreme which seems to work even better on the really greasy stuff. Comes in a 1 gallon jug, I got it at Sam's Club. I have no idea what's in that stuff but it works great.

On mine I took engine degreaser and a car wash, then painted the inside with P.O.R. 15 black looks great and does not smell.

Lee, I mount 4 casters on the bottom of mine, thus it means drilling and tapping 4 holes. These holes make it easy to drain out whatever you're using to clean the inside with. Sam

Dicks right! If you're going to make a display case, the very best way is to dip strip it! Remember, there will be some welding done for the display part and it will make for a whole lot better job, if its dipped! Just the smell is easy but you'll get a whole lot better job for what you're planning, if you dip it! JM2C

Actually you might want to consider cutting your opening after rinsing it of course. Then have it blasted in and out with sodium bi carbonate AKA baking soda. It kills the smell and preps the metal for paint with no warping. FYI. I found this out by having a garage floor in a dumpy house we turned that smelled worse than death from cat urine.
