I am new, so if I am doing something wrong let me know. I just found some newsletters dated 1943-1944 from the Yale Oil Comportaion, Billings Montana and also a magazine from the Sovereign Service stations. Tried goggle and didn't find much information. Anyone have any basic information on this oil company and service station.
Thanks
captain

Hi Captain and welcome to Old Gas,
You are doing what this forum was designed for. Ask all the questions you want. If you go to advanced search, you will find some prior discussions about Yale.
The guys ( and a few girls) like pics, so post some of your newsletters.
John

Thanks for the ebay link. On one of the newsletters it has the "Lightning" brand. I guess this was there product line. This hoping someone will come up with more information on this company.

Litening was a popular brand here in Montana many years agao. Many of their small cans bring a good price. they had a slogan of "Just 5 gallons" to try to convince peope that you would notice a difference. Their stations and signs wre sometimes very graphic with the use of neon. sorry I don't have any pictures.

Not too much shows up on ebay, occasional matchbook.

I wonder if Yale Oil was a local distributor that distributed for Lightning?

I am having a brain-lock t his morning....but wasn't Yale part of Hancock Oil at one time? They also made Old Black Joe grease. Note the spelling of Litening...not Lighting

Just read the fine print on the letterhead you posted a picture of and you will get most of the info you need!!!...............
Yale Oil Co. was out of South Dakota, w/ refineries in wyoming and montana. Central office in Billings. Distributed Hancock oil and grease, sold Litening gas....its there for the reading...

I think the item Dick mentions above is way over priced. They run between $100 and $200.

someone on Craigslist has a Litening and Widfire globe for $2500 each.

I had done some research on Hancock Oil out of Minneapolis last year. John Hancock founded Hancock Oil of Minneapolis and Yale Oil of Billings. Both used Litening gasoline. You can find the details here:
