I was at the "Lowes" store yesterday and I found these cool little Knurled knobs in a 6-32 size! Perfect for the bolts that hold globe lenses on! I couldn't find any of the flat headed screws anywhere tho. The only thing available was a 6-32 slotted head machine screw with a pan head and that will work just fine but I'd really like to find some of the little flat headed ones! Anyone know where or have a supplier for them??

You could buy a brass screw that size & grind it flat. Then use sand paper to remove the grind marks & give it the spun look. Then polish them up & walla ya got some smile

Kevin have you tried Fastenal? They say they have over 15,000 different types of screws on their website.

Chuck Pergl actually has old original ones but they are about 9/16 of an inch long and sometimes, a longer one is needed, especially on these older clover bodies! He told me to get some 6 by 32 screws that are 3/4 inch long and have the heads machined flat. He's sending me a care package to illustrate how the finished product looks. I guess that will work OK but I'm going to check with Joel Shady too. I was at the fastenal store and that is not something they have available.

Heres a pic of the package the knurled nuts came in! You can print it from your computer and take it with you!

I had some made a few years back. Bought 100 screws, rubber washers and nuts from McMaster Carr. Took screws down to machine shop down the road and he put them in a lathe and turned the head till the flat screw drive slot was gone....did them for $20. Looks just like the originals! I had $15 in materials from McMaster Carr.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

I was just over to Lowes looking for the same thing. I ended up buying some 6-32 X 1" brass screws brought them home and turned the slot off with my lathe. They were to big in diameter so I checked the orginals. The originals are 5-36 X 5/8". This means the #6 is .013" bigger than the #5. So be careful you don't break the lenses. I will use the #6 for something else. If you can find some #4-40 the right length it would probably work better. The #6 is .138 in diameter, the #5 is .125 and the #4 is .112. This is just my opinion. Mitch

Mitch--Interesting! In all my years, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a #5?? It must have been a specialty size that wasn't used in a lot of applications.
Most of the globes that I've had anything to do with, accomodate the #6 screw, just fine. I will pay fairly close attention as to how tight the screws are though.
