I am Having A Wayne 800 restored and cannot decide what size globe to use. I would appreciate any pictures of Wayne 800's with globes and size stated so I can get a feel for how each would look.

Thank you
John

The company You choose has more to do w/ it. As a new pump in 1930-32, a 15" or 16 1/2" would be more appropriate, along w/ some of the earlier 1pc.

I've restored five Wayne 800's in my life. Two I restored with 15" globes and three with 13.5". I personally think the 15" looks better. The 800 is a substantial enough pump to handle the larger sized globe. I'm including a picture of the very first 800 I ever restored...I was fourteen years old when I did it!! I found it about twenty miles from my house and paid $500 for it...seemed like a fortune at the time! I used a 13.5" simply because it was the only size available back then. If you can see them in the picture, check-out the original nozzle hangers. This is the only 800 I've ever seen with them. They were brass, two on one side, one on the other, and were formed to fit the curve of the "head" exactly. I think they add a lot. If I had it to do over, I would have made some castings off of them. Oh well...

John:
If the pump will be outside, the cheapest globe you can find. If it is to be inside, go with the suggestions above.

Petropumps:
Very nice pump, can I use that picture in the next GP ID book I write (if I do write one)?
