I got another set of Pure lenses a while back to resell. I finally took them out of the box & noticed they where different than the ones I already had. The one on the left says The Pure Oil Company USA while the right one says Products Of The Pure Oil Company. I looked in the globe book & the ones on the left where not in there. Has anyone else seen these & when where they used? confused

I'm not a Pure or that much of a globe guy. But I do have the one on the right. I have never seen the one on the left. They do have the one on the left but with a PUROL not a PURE, in the book. Look at the PURE ETHYL 15 globe used 1938-45. That globe was used in the WOCO area. I wonder if your globe was used later in the WOCO area. Richard

I thought that their was a set that sold on ebay a few months back and Scott Benjamin talked about them later in a PCM magaizne. He said it was a new discovery. I will look at my old pcm's and try to find it.

Now you'll have to find another Good white porcelain body to display them.

I have said this before, but here I go again. This is my opionion, I believe that different glass companies made the two lenses. In the day, a company as big as Pure with its broad marketing area, LOGISTICALY, it would have been improbable for only one glass company to make the globes for Pure. If you were a jobber in the South, more than likely, you would not have gotten your pump globes from up North or vise versa. The company rules were not as tight on images as they are nowdays. So it makes sense that maybe one company did the wording a little different. Notice that the same typeset is NOT used on both lenses. There are major differences in the lettering on say the word "company" on both lenses.

I agree 100% w/ Roger. Same thing applies to signage & lots of other oil companies.
