What is this used for? It's been sitting in our house for years and I have always wondered about it. Are they very common?
Thanks for any input. I hope every one has a great new year.

Also has interest in oil cans picked up over the last 20 years or has it been steady?

If you need help re-sizing pictures, there are instructions in the help section. That would make it much easier to see the pictures, instead of having to scroll around. wink

Image has been scaled to 640px × 428px, but is a large file & down loading is slow.

Item looks to have been used for Coal Oil/Kerosene. For refilling stoves, heaters & lamps.

I watched a show on the first car that Benz built.
He drove to the drug store and bought a gallon of BENZENE in a container to use as a fuel.
It is possible that is how that was sold, if so I would think it to be very old.

Thanks for the info. What about oil cans? Has the popularity of collecting cans picked up over 20 years, more than the popularity of collecting pumps and signs? Or should I say has the value of cans gone up perspectivly more than pumps or signs?
Thanks
Rick
