Utah Wyoming, Montana, I believe that's were they use these 40 foot and pup trailer's. different weight, and length law for different states.

Just the normal everyday rig in Canada and Alaska. Drove to Alaska few years ago, saw lots of biga-- double rigs hauling everything,gas, lumber,gravel,lumber etc. Truck driving there is truly an art. When you are going down a mountain there and one of those big rigs comes up behind you get the hell out of the way!

I believe but don't quote me on this total length in Wyoming is 90 ft. Whats scary around here is a pickup truck towing 35 ft. 5th wheel trailer with a 20 ft boat behind that in a 50 mph wind.

It gets windy in Wyoming? LOL... My concern about those "Weekend warriors" is that they are concerned with power. Weight, and braking capability seem secondary. I get a bit concerned when I see a pickup, pulling a land train too.

Dick, Double Bottoms are legal in the desert regions of California . I was offered a job back in the mid seventies when I had already moved to Houston to drive for Shell. I turned it down as I was never real crazy about driving Flamibles for anyone . I did however relent towards the end of my full tie career as a driver in 1998 and drive for a local Mobil jobber here . Still, it was delivering a 48ft tank to deliver Diesel . Ed Shaver

The more fuel you haul the more money make. load up trailers. take to destination down interstate to another town drop one trailer out side of town and take other trailer to station to unload. Come back drop empty trailer hook to other full trailer unload at another station, come back and do it all over again. about 14 hour day.

Probably take 45 minuets just to build air pressure in all those trailers and walk a bout and around beat on tires!

Montana allows triple trailers for semis as well. They a re limited to the iterstae and somany miles off of it. Usually not a problem until you get that blowing snow and it seems to take forever to pass them or be passed....

Looks like stiff competition amoung Tractor companies, KW tried to set a world record in 2004.

Geeesh.... DB. Well it took some digging but I found the details. A little confusing looking this up because other attempts at the record were coming up with it.

Trailers were Empty.
Total weight of the rig was 1300 tonnes (1433 U.S. tons. - 2,866,000 lbs.)

Had to travel 100 Meters to set the record. 6ths of a mile.

In a straight line.

It was to raise money for a Charitable Cause.

Doesn't say how many, but they had to use mulitple air compressors to air up the entire system of brakes.
