IMO from 1960 & older, there are no ugly gas pumps! Some are just a little prettier than others! Sam

Joe either you have bad taste or have the new edition of the book! I guess I would vote for the pumps at today's stations. Big ugly boxes, no style at all, will never be collected. John

Hi Guys,
The question was asked so I'll answer it. My least favorite pump (I DID NOT SAY UGLY) is any clockface.I just cannot relate to one of them, and further,I think it's really hard to build an eye catching display around one. But then that's the way I do things;coordinated displays. Nothing more.
Am I in trouble now?

I'd trade either of my Romans or twin 850 for THAT UGLY BD #1935 PUMP, JOE.
My vote for Least Favorite has to be the bolt together frame BOWSER.

Hi Guys,
I didn't mean to say I don't like clockfaces. It's just that when I'm assembling a coordinated display visibles and computer pumps are easier for me to work with because I can relate to the display layout.
For me,a visible displayed with a restored JD ModA and a windmill just seem to go togather because I saw them all in use on my grandparents farm in Oklahoma. I did that once and may go back to it and this time I'll add some seed and fertilizer signs I've got to round out the display. That's just one example.
On the other hand,a friend of mine collects Ford Mod A's and has a great restored clockface an I love it in that setting!!
Hope that clears it up.I like them all,and believe me, if I had aFord Mod A I'd have me a clockface!!

Southwest 70, bottom right, page 255.
There is a story that goes with this pump. About 18 years ago my son found two of these, still sitting in from of an old station that was now a antique store. Actually less than 5 miles from me, in Overland, MO. I went over to look at them. Looked at the emblem just above the sight glass. Told my son these were Martin & Schwartz pumps, just look at the emblem, it says M S. Offered the lady $25.00 each (I would have to disconnect them). Came back later to look at them, took a good look at the emblem and realized it had come loose on one side and turned over, when I turned it back it became S W. Really took a good look a them, decided they were the ugliest pumps I had ever seen, and told the lady, if she paid me $25.00 each I would remove them. Never did find out what happened to them.
