I am fairly new to this hobby and I am particularly fascinated by globes. I was wondering if there are any hard and fast rules for telling the difference between an authentic globe and a fake one. Generally speaking, has anyone had any bad experiences with dealers passing globes off as originals when in fact they are repos on internet auctions? Any responses will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Sir...the best place for you to start is by purchasing two volumes of the 'Gas Globes' book by Scott Benjamin/Wayne Henderson. The first volume has listings for Amoco to Mobil and the second for Pennzoil to Union. Not only are there hundreds of color photos, company history, and pricing/configuration info, but there is a list of globes that are known to be reproduced and how you can tell the difference from the originals. Call me @ Vic's Place 8889187867 or visit us on the web www.vicsplace.com to order these valuable tools of the trade. Seth/Vic's Place
