Getting ready to disassemble and restore this Wayne 70 I picked up at Carlisle this fall. The sight glass has me a little puzzled, does the base unscrew?

Yes it does unscrew. They can be a pain sometimes. Richard

Sometimes it helps to cut a relief groove in bottom w/ a Dremel or hacksaw blade. Can be filled later. db

a special wrench is available from some of the vendors.or a pipe wrench and a "little" heat.once you get the base off be carefull the glass doesnt fall.use some wd40 and a rubber mallet.tap and hold on to the glass.usually go pretty easy with a little pateince. i stand corrected! guess it is a wrench for a 60.

I've never seen any Special Wrench for a WAYNE 70 spinner nut, from any vendor. Special wrench for 60 was a waste of money & postage.

Ahh, both site glasses are out, BIG pipe wrench, No problem. The real devil was the reset crank nut, had to use a grinder and a drill. It's out now too. Skins and doors are stripped and ready for the body shop tomorrow.
