I picked up this tin embossed painted sign tonight and was wondering if anyone has any idea as to when this type of sign was used - it is orange and blue and the only issue with it is a little paint damage and bent metal in the blue along the left edge. Any idea as to it's value - I paid $60 for it

...probably dates to the late 1940's-mid 1950's...as to value, you got a pretty good deal, even with the damage...at least $175-200...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I would say well purchased. Nice looking sign at a price you can't say no to. Well done.

I collect Cooper tire signs and I do have the sign you have pictured.

You got a great deal. IMO, this sign in good condition is probably worth 250 - 300 range. That price is reflective of Cooper's headquarters being a 20 minute drive from me so geography may be a factor.

It is an earlier Cooper sign, they started out with the orange background with blue letters and later switched to blue background with orange/white letters.

Very well bought.
